There was a game show on television many years ago called Name That Tune. Contestants declared they could name a tune by hearing only the first five or four or three notes of a song. Many of us play a version of this game called Write That Paper. We tell ourselves we can get it done in four or three or two days. Clearly this approach will not give you optimal results.

Make a Plan
We procrastinate because we don't know how to get started. Well, today's tip is to make a plan, and it will go something like this: understand your assignment or purpose (see Find the Path), brainstorm ideas, finalize your topic-scope-purpose, do your research, read your sources and take notes, condense all your notes, write the first "macro" outline, revise to the second "micro" outline, write the first draft, revise, and celebrate (or sleep). Do these, all of these, and do them in this order.
