現在,カナダに住んでいますが、日本では、東京の名門大学で理工系の学生にライティング、特に、学術ジャーナルに投稿するため研究論文の書き方を教えていました。

Using Data-Driven Learning (DDL) to Teach Grammar and Vocabulary

The benefits of DDL for intermediate and advanced level EFL learners have been well documented.  A series of studies at Nihon University aimed to implement modified DDL to beginner/remedial Japanese university students, and this project has become one of the first to use DDL successfully at this level.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Turnitin in an L2 Sci Eng Context

As one of the primary resources for plagiarism checks at universities, we looked at how effective and applicable Turnitin is for use in checking L2 papers in a science and engineering faculty at a Japanese university.

Using Corpora to Improve Research Writing

The use of general and technical corpora was incorporated into a course aimed at teaching science and engineering students how to write up their research for publication in academic and professional journals. Efficacy was measured and reported. Additionally, course evaluations indicated widespread student support.

Developing Corpora for Lower Proficiency Level L2 Learners

The Sentence Corpus of Remedial English (SCoRE) is a corpus and search tool designed to give

lower proficiency EFL learners access to the benefits of data-driven learning (DDL).  I  was part of the development team focused on creating level-appropriate sentences.
